Looks like the legacy version of Express is gone. Goodbye from this paid user after 7 years!
Main Post:
As of today, it looks like Adobe has finally and fully shut down the legacy version of Adobe Express (formerly Spark Post). I’ve been using it as a paid user for about 7 years now, mostly for square-format graphics with simple, readable text overlays, stuff I use in educational and accessibility-focused content.
I tried the “new” Express when it first launched and found it borderline unusable for my workflows. It was clunky, slow, and missing core functionality I’d come to rely on. Ever since then, I’ve been sticking with the legacy version and ignoring the migration prompts. But today, the legacy app has been remotely disabled and no longer opens at all on my device.
So, I’ll be looking into alternatives, most likely Canva, for my subscription dollars going forward. I know nothing’s perfect, but I need something that respects my time and doesn’t upend my workflows overnight.
Would love to hear if others have found solid replacements for what the old Express used to do well.
Top Comment: Hey, I feel you. I know how frustrating this must be... especially after 7 years. Big changes like this can feel like a punch to the gut. The legacy version officially shut down May 12, and while we’ve been trying to prep folks, I get that it still stings. Could you let me know which features you are missing most? I'd love to send back to our team, I work at Adobe. But if you’re set on moving on, I respect that. Appreciate you being part of the journey this long 💛

PCI Express 3.0 vs 4.0 - GPU performance Uplift Outlier
Main Post:
Hi Nvidia!
I am wondering if anyone knows anything more on this topic. PCI-E 3.0 versus PCI-E 4.0 performance. Steve from GN mentions that with every new PCI-E update, we should only expect to see a 1% to 1.5% improvement in performance.
However see this link. https://youtu.be/v2SuyiHs-O4?t=489 - In Total War: Warhammer III the PCI-e 4.0 setup at 1080P results in about a 15% additional performance in favor of PCI-E 4.0. My question is does anyone know or have an update as to why PCI-E 4.0 vs 3.0 would result in a 15% performance lead only at 1080P and only with Warhammer III. No other game exhibited this behavior at least not that I know of. And not that Steve from GN has tested.
https://youtu.be/v2SuyiHs-O4?t=684 - Steve's final take on this. He does say that this is a non-issue and an outlier. He has contact NVIDIA but I haven't found any update on this.
I am wondering if you fine people would know more?
Thanks!
Top Comment: Total Warhammer is an outlier due to the huge number of draw calls for 100s or 1000s of units on screen requiring more PCIe bandwidth to deliver updates to the GPU. This game doesn't need massive FPS to be enjoyable, so many people consider this to be a non-issue as it's just one game.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 PCI-Express Scaling
Main Post: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 PCI-Express Scaling
Top Comment: This is a really interesting one. x16 3.0 or x8 4.0 or x4 5.0 there is a small performance hit. Although, is probably unrealistic on a 3.0 setup due to CPU bottleneck. That said, I really look forward to pcie 5.0. May be an edge case where you want to save lanes or even better, external GPU support that only has support for as little as 4 lanes.
